Summer Services 2023

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do, and he will show
you which path to take.”

– Proverbs 3:5-6

Make waves of impact this summer!

Take Heart is excited to continue hosting summer services in Egypt, Syria, Iraq, and Nigeria in 2023 to serve our persecuted brothers and sisters through educational, spiritual, and leadership focused activities.

We are planning to utilize missionaries and our local volunteers to reach 6,000 youth and leaders in countries we serve. Funds are needed to ensure the proper resources are administered for these projects. All services will be completed between June and September. Specific details including dates and locations are undisclosed to ensure safety of our beneficiaries and staff.

We are counting on you to help us reach our goal in order to bring joy, learning, and spiritual encouragement to 6,000 youth this summer!

Summer Services 2022

Discover below some of the ways summers with Take Heart are meaningful and fun for thousands of kids, youth, and adults.

Nigeria

Our summer activities reached 2,000 people in five internally displaced persons (IDP) camps in Nigeria this year.

Here are just a few highlights:

Take Heart began equipping 150 internally displaced youth leaders in five IDP camps with discipleship, choir training, basic education skills, clinical assistance, basic first aid, and coaching and mentoring techniques.

– We worked with one of our local partners to host summer sports and activities. Sports help children and youth to be conscious of the needs and values of others. Through sports, we witnessed youth being able to manage their emotions better, learn self-control, and share power, space, and ideas with others. Incidences of emotional violence and physical abuse have seriously reduced since the summer games started.

Music is a universal language and is pivotal for improving self-esteem, sustaining peace, and promoting joy. A singing competition brought comradery and excitement to the camps.

Egypt

We reached 1,750 youth and women in Egypt!

One of our three major goals of 2022 has been to equip youth, who are the leaders of the future. One way we equipped youth this summer was by nurturing their artistic abilities. We found the icon artwork by students in Egypt to be very impressive!

– Seventeen girls attended a four-day conference in Egypt. The theme was, “Against the Current.” There were many Scriptural lessons and fruitful discussions of how to live against the grain of society, even when it is hard.

Empowering women is another key objective of 2022. This summer, Take Heart launched a literacy class for 30 women in a community in Egypt. They all participated with enthusiasm!

Syria

We reached over 300 people in Syria!

– At a day retreat, Christian men discussed the topic of forgiveness and how to repair broken relationships. They worshipped and prayed, ending with sharing a delicious meal together.

– Ladies met together for worship and prayer. They received promises from Scripture spoken over them by local leaders in the community. All enjoyed games and a meal together, celebrating the Lord’s work in their lives.

We started multiple income-generating projects for Syrian families in the Church to move them towards financial independence despite their difficult living conditions.

Iraq

We reached 1,000 youth in Iraq!

– Nurturing children is our third priority this year. We believe that nurturing children and discipling them from a young age will equip them for a lifetime. A catechesis program from one of our local church partners in Iraq included prayer, contemplating a text from Scripture (“The Lost Sheep,”) competitions, snacks, and an awards ceremony.

– We brought together a number of youth for a workshop about entrepreneurship, starting with having an idea through a journey towards implementing it. Teachings included the basics of starting a project, typical obstacles, the most common misconceptions, and practical theories and insight from people who successfully started their own projects and businesses.

Under the supervision of Bishop Thabet, our newest local partners in Iraq hosted a camp for 45 youth over a period of three days. Lectures, prayer, discussion, confession, and competitions filled the time with meaning and joy. Everyone learned how to better walk in the light and life of the Gospel.
